Top Ten

22nd January 2019

Our goal-greedy greens had to patiently wait until 2019 for the second round of the RISA League . As usual though, the crisp blue skies of Rome set the scene for another exciting morning of Under 11s football fixtures. However, more patience would be needed.

The New School dominated the first match, but could not quite manage to find the back of the net, thanks to some fine goalkeeping and steadfast defending. Frustratingly, the game finished goalless and our league leaders had to settle for just one point.

Patience...

The next game looked like going the same way, with the St George's goalkeeper pulling off save after sumptuous save. Would we ever see the back of the net bulge?

Patience...

Then there it was: A twist and a turn from Leone on the left wing gave him enough space to drive a low powerful shot right into the bottom left corner, out of reach of a fully stretched goalie.

1-0

The Greens continued bombarding the opposition, not satisfied until the three available points were all but secured. And secured they were, Mareine, our RIGHT winger this time taking the game away from the Reds, scoring her first two goals of the campaign.

3-1   (4 points from 6)

Next up: AOSR.

Birthday boy Alessandro took up the right wing role in this match and kicked off his birthday celebrations with two fine goals. A convincing display kept our title challenge on track and it seemed that patience had paid off.

4-0   (7 points from 9)

One match remained.

Southlands were a tough cookie to crack last season, so there was no room for complacency going into our last match of the day. Again, though, our trusty Greens continued their focus, pushing the Blues back with every move. The reward?

Another convincing 4-0 win.

An almost perfect 10 points from 12. Surely The New School maintain their grip at the top of the table.

Bring on the Spring!
