26th May 2019

Saturday 25th of May 2019 will be a date we are unlikely to forget. It saw our wonderful Under 11s footballers lifting the RISA League trophy for the second consecutive year!

From the off, the football was scintillating from the Greens and resulted in Leone bagging a hat-trick and William responding to a wonderful consolation goal from Southlands, with an unerring long distance shot of his own, which really did seal the three points as it it clipped the post on its way in.

The next two games, against St. George’s opposition, saw our heroes chalking up an emphatic 5-0 win (including a hat-trick from Adriano), before playing out a hard-fought goal-less draw.

As the league run neared its end, it was fantastic to see tangible improvements in certain players in the team. Members of staff from other schools even mentioned this.

The teams met at the end of the morning and The New School players jumped to their feet to embrace each other, as it was announced that they had won the league. Mareine (Year 6), rightly thanked the organisers of the tournament and the other teams who have participated all season.

It has been a joy to witness the team work, skill and hard work on display from our players since September. One other quality must be mentioned too. We are sincerely proud of our young footballers for the commitment they have made to the Saturday fixtures throughout the season; we have had no problems at all with attendance. Our players signed up for a number of dates at the start of the academic year and they have honoured that commitment to the letter. We thank their parents for being a huge part of this too.

Well done, Champs!
