Sixth form Students'
Work Experience June '98
As part of their sixth form curriculum, some of our students did work experience with the following:
Group 1 worked with Reuters News Agency and attended the UN conference on the setting up of an International Criminal Court. They also attended press conferences given by Kofi Annan and a special meeting between Nelson Mandela and the Pope. They were required to write up articles for Reuters.
Group 2 spent a week gaining experience in the day to day management of a large business, Food Italia (responsible for a number of McDonalds restaurants in Rome). They were particularly interested in the time they spent with the laboratory technicians who are responsible for the food technology side of the business.
Group 3 was attached to Piera Canu, a well known make-up artist working in the world of fashion in Italy and abroad.
The supervisors for all the students commented on how the New School students showed both initiative and maturity in their approach to the work place.
