The Middle School and The Senior School The Middle School encompasses Years 7 to 9 and courses follow the National Curriculum for Key Stage Three. French is introduced as a foreign language and differentiated groups follow Italian for beginners or Italian for mother-tongue speakers. Art and Drama are compulsory subjects and Information Technology is taught in Key Stage Three and integrated across the curriculum. History and Geography courses take full advantage of the school's marvellous location close to the centre of Rome.

A programme of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) is followed throughout the Senior school and each year group has a tutor responsible for the academic progress and overall welfare of the students. Students are taught in classes of no more than sixteen. Sports activities and Physical Education lessons take place at the extensive facilities of CUS Roma.

The Senior School comprises Years 10 to 13, where the course material and examinations are set by the University of London (Edexcel) and University of Cambridge (CIE). New School students obtain qualifications enabling them to continue their studies anywhere in the world. Small classes, student-centred activities and effective student-teacher relationships ensure that every student achieves his or her personal best.
Good behaviour and academic effort are achieved by encouraging self-respect, respect for others and a sense of personal responsibility and responsibility towards the community. The school's caring atmosphere ensures that every child or young person is integrated easily and quickly, while a dynamic pastoral system promotes the welfare and development of the individual and enables any problems to be resolved promptly.
Qualifications
The Senior school courses lead to IGCSE, GCSE, GCE Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and A-level (A2) examinations issued by the Universities of Cambridge and London, for which the school is an official centre.
The New School is, at present, the only school in Rome offering AS level and A2 level courses. These courses are recognised worldwide as providing an excellent preparation for university study and are acceptable university qualifications in all countries. Recent modifications to the syllabuses allow students to study combinations of up to five subjects during their last two years of school.
All New School students who complete their A-level courses go on successfully to take up undergraduate places at leading universities in Britain, the United States, Italy and throughout the world with many going on to research and postgraduate studies.
The school's unique structure enables students, if they wish, to select and combine courses from the Humanities and Sciences. A-level courses provide not only an 'in depth' study of a particular subject but also aim to develop those skills essential for a successful university career. At present students are following courses in: English Literature, Art, French, Italian, Spanish, History, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Business Studies, Economics and a "Corso Integrativo" in Italian for students applying to Italian universities.
All students are encouraged to participate in Community Service activities and a Work Experience programme.
