This year, The New School ski group went to Zoldo, a large and lively ski resort in the heart of the Dolomites, from the 13th to the 19th of February. We got there by train; the journey lasted about seven hours.

As well as skiing every day, there were many extra activities in the evenings, including: going down a slope on huge, inflatable rubber tyres; disco-night; ice-skating and night skiing.

We returned to Rome sleeping on the train with couchettes (very uncomfortable)!

It was a really fantastic and exciting ski-week!!

 

BEST BITS

Paolo:  When I went on the tyre things. Then Larry, Ben and Arjan jumped on me.

Flavia: Sliding on the ciambellone...wheee!

Jo:  Crashing spectacularly!

James:  All the English girls running after me.

Arianna:  Skiing on the fox path - it was full of jumps.

James, Arjan and Brandon:  Doing freestyle through the forests.

Ben:  Snowboarding through the forest.  There were no tracks and there were trees everywhere! I fell over and had to dig my board out.

Zach:  I had extreme fun when we did the tyre thing.

Tyrone:  Tubing.

Lucy:  Getting down that slope alive!

Sarah: Knowing that I’ve done the night ski-run.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS

Larry: Going to the hospital with Ben on the snowmobile.

Sara:  Trying to eat the floppy pizza.

Milly:  The singing on the bus.

Jack:  Zach being a human 10-pin.

Joanna:  Seeing steam rising from James’ boots when he took them off!

Steven:  I was skiing really fast down the mountain. Then Larry crashed right in front of me and I ended up going into a snow wall.

Sarah:  I went on a hike with Jack and Alice. We went up to Col Fioret where we could see the frozen lake in Alleghe.  The mountain range was really spectacular.

Jo:  Zach running away from the girls from Mill Hill.

Brandon:  What’s a couchette?
Jack:  It’s like a cucumber.

James and Larry (singing): Catch a falling (insert name), put it in your poc-ket, never let it fade awaaay..., save it for a rainy daaay...

Lucy:  Are you a skiboarder?

Larry:  I wanna ceeeent!

Arianna’s instructor:  Ti sfasci le corna.

Larry:  Look! Zach is snowing. I mean snowboarding.

James and Larry (singing): Bad boys, bad boys, whacha gonna do?

Steve:  Who dribbled here?
Brandon:  That was my snowboard!

Jo (upon hearing that Ben had possibly broken something): But he can’t have! He’s in the play!

Alice (upon hearing that her brother had possibly broken something):  He’s completely upstaging me! I’ve only got a black eye!

Alice:  You can’t hit me - ha ha ha!
Ben:  When I get my cast off I will.
Alice:  Yeah, like in ten weeks!
