]]>Students from Year 9 enjoyed a week of sailing on the island of Ventotene on June 15th at the Lega Navale Ventotene. The trip was organised as part of the school's annual week of activities before the Summer break.
As part of the five day intensive course, the students learned how to prepare sailing boats for water and how to actually sail.
Francesca who organised the trip said, "It was an amazing week. Ventotene is such an amazing place and we had six fantastic lessons sailing around the island."

From international cuisine to remote controlled car races to teachers being soaked in the ‘Soak-the-Idiot’ stall, The New School Rome’s annual summer fair took place on Saturday May 23rd. The event is a key part of the school’s summer term and brings together all three parts of the school community: parents, pupils and teachers.
This year’s fair was one of the largest the school has seen in recent years. The pupils arranged traditional fair ground stalls and games around the school grounds whilst teachers manned the stalls selling everything from DVDs, plants and Bric-a-brac. Maths teacher Ted and English teacher Eugenie assisted by pupils in Years 12 and 13 braved the soaring temperatures to keep the Barbeque going throughout the day whilst the international buffet featured food from at least three continents.
The New School’s Headteacher Domini MacRory said, “What a wonderful day. Many, many thanks to everyone who helped make this important day so memorable. It is always so heartening to see so many members of the school community working together. Special thanks to Ombretta who organized the event.”

Year 5 braved the soaring temperatures and spent a day in the city centre last week (May 12th ). The purpose was to begin working on a special project . In Geography and ICT the pupils will be producing mini-guidebooks to Rome.
They need to include a short walking tour consisting of 3 monuments or places of interest. The groups will also have to research the places and write about them in an appropriate style, then find a suitable route using public transport from and back to school. The class also needs to find the best route between each place!
The class used last year's winning guide to begin their project.
