The New School 1972 - 2002 Summer 2002 marked the 30th anniversary of the founding of The New School. The reunion lunch and dinner were held at school on 28th September, with many of our past and present students and teachers attending this happy and rather nostalgic occasion. We were especially glad to welcome Mervyn Field, founder of The New School, who was its first head teacher and played the leading role in establishing the school's unique approach to education. Josette Fusco, head teacher for 15 years and a driving force behind the school's later development was also there, as was Richard Lydiker who, as chairman of the Executive Council over a period of 13 years, was instrumental in creating a firm administrative basis for the school's continued success. Mervyn, Josette, Richard and Armando MacRory, who is currently head teacher, entertained us all with typically hilarious speeches while Lucia's pasta and the guest chef's Pakistani delicacies were accompanied by plenty of good wine. If you didn't make it to the reunion you can still send us your postal or e-mail address, and help us contact any others with whom you are in touch. You can e-mail us at info@newschoolrome.com, send a card or fax, or just pick up the phone! Don't forget to let us have your 'New School' name and the period during which you were here; you may find a long-lost friend! You may also like to consult the ex-students' (and teachers'!) register and add your name to it to help us and other 'New School People' get in touch with you. Click here for the ex-students' page. |
